HOW DO I MAINTAIN MY BRAIDS?
After your appointment, it is recommended NOT to wash your hair nor swim with the braids. Applying water will force the gel and hairspray to wash out, thus leaving the braids messy quicker.
When sleeping, it is best to wrap the braids with either a silky/satin scarf, a durag or alternatively, sleeping on a silk pillowcase. This will allow the braids to last the duration of the night, and remain flawless until the morning.
HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR HAVE TO BE FOR BRAIDS?
The minimum length your hair should be is 10-12CM.
The main reason for this is that the hair will NOT be long enough to hold the braid together and will most likely fall out shortly after your appointment.
To ensure your money's worth, 12CM is the recommended hair length for braiding.
*NOTE: The shortest part of your hair should be at least 10-12cm, not the longest part of your hair.
HOW SHOULD I ARRIVE TO MY APPOINTMENT?
Before coming to your appointment, please check your hair for any headlice. This ensures the safety and hygiene of both yourself, other clients and the TBraidz staff.
Hair should also be 1-2 days unwashed. It is healthy for natural oils to be in your hair prior to receiving braids, in order to avoid dandruff or an itchy scalp.
If you have knotty or afro hair, please ensure your hair is brushed/stretched prior to arrival. This will ensure a smooth and efficient appointment, as well as a comfortable and easy braiding experience.
HOW DO I CARE FOR BOX BRAIDS?
Box braids are a complex braid style that requires maintenance after receiving it. To ensure the health and hygiene of your hair, it is important to hydrate the scalp regularly. Seeing as the braids last around 2 months, maintaining a hydrated scalp is necessary for hair growth, less irritation and long lasting braids. You may do so by spraying water between the braids, or alternatively applying oils, such as castor or coconut oils, to the scalp.
In terms of washing the hair, it is recommended to only wash once or twice a fortnight. This will ensure the braids remain slick, neat and in tact for the entire duration.
WHAT IS THE KIDS BIRTHDAY PACKAGE?
TBraidz offers an exciting KIDS BIRTHDAY PACKAGE that will ensure all attendees leave with a smile on their face. The packages are charged per attendee, and activities can be changed at your recommendation. We offer braiding for all members, however if you wish to add an additional nail painting or games, that may be added at additional cost.
